Singapore’s History
Singapore was a part of United Kingdom first and then a part of Malaysia. It got its independence from Malaysia in 1965. Since Singapore does not have any manufacturing facilities, it relies upon all the countries for imports. This helped Singapore become a major trading hub in a short span of time. One interesting fact about Singapore is that it buys water from Malaysia as they don’t have portable water for 3 cents per thousand gallons and treat the water and sell it back to Malaysia for 5 cents per thousand gallons. The major sources of income are from the port and tourism.
